Violet Grey chief brand officer departs
December 2, 2024
Beauty retailer Violet Grey is reportedly parting ways with its chief brand officer, Sarah Brown, according to a report.
According to a WWD report, Brown has left the company “to pursue other opportunities,” a spokesperson told reporters.
Her successor is yet to be announced.
Brown first joined the company in 2021 as executive director of Violet Lab, the retailer’s brand development arm, before being appointed chief brand officer in March. Prior to Violet Grey, she was a beauty editor at Vogue.
Her departure comes just several months after Violet Grey founder Cassandra Grey reacquired the company from Coupang-owned Farfetch in September, with financial help from private equity investor, Sherif Guirgis.
In this new chapter, co-owner Guirgis serves as chairman and CEO, while Grey has transitioned into the role of chairman and artistic director at Violet Labs.
Founded in 2012, the Los Angeles-based Violet Grey began as a beauty blog in 2012, before moving into e-commerce in 2014. In 2022, the company was sold to Farfetch in January 2022 for an undisclosed amount.
