Zalando and Sephora are ending their partnership, which began in June 2021. Initially launched in Germany, then implemented in 2022 in Italy, this scheme, which was to be rolled out across Europe, enabled the LVMH group's selective perfume retailer to sell products from 300 brands on the German sales portal. The aim was to enable Sephora to strengthen its online presence and target a fashion audience, and Zalando to strengthen its position in the dynamic beauty segment.

"Given the extremely dynamic business environment we are experiencing in the EME (Europe and Middle East, editor's note) region, we have taken the decision to refocus our efforts and resources on our core business and our own distribution networks. After launching the pilot projects in Germany and Italy in 2021 and 2022 respectively, we learned a lot from each other, thanks to constructive collaboration and a very positive response from customers. However, after evaluating the two pilot projects and the next steps, we came to the joint conclusion that our potential is best realised outside the current partnership. We have therefore taken the joint and friendly decision to end our collaboration in the coming months," explains Sephora in a press release sent to FashionNework.com.

Sephora, which has 3,000 shops around the world and could achieve sales of 13 billion euros this year, has recently strengthened its physical presence by moving into new markets. The brand has opened its first shop in the United Kingdom and is preparing to open a second.
