Diesel's Creative Director Nicola Formichetti to leave
While the general manager position at Diesel is still vacant, the label owned by Italian fashion group OTB is having to deal with the departure of its creative director. Nicola Formichetti, who took charge of style for the Italian label in 2013, steering it along a more creative path and away from its denim roots, is about to jump ship.
Diesel was already hit by the departure of General Manager Alessandro Bogliolo, who left to take charge of Tiffany, in the autumn. No one has stepped up to replace him yet. Nicola Formichetti was very busy with his own label at the latest London Fashion Week, notably striking a remarkable deal with Amazon.
As for Diesel, in the autumn it changed the tone of its advertising and reset its social media communications, cancelling out the work done by its creative director in the last few years.
The announcement of Nicola Formichetti's departure coincided with the appointment in early December of a new general manager for the group, Ubaldo Minelli.
In 2016, the Italian label generated a revenue of €960 million but still posted losses.
